Description.
As a filmmaker and commercial photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects, but capturing the Sally Buselt Elementary School was truly special. Being a father of three, I’m always drawn to projects that impact kids and communities, and this school is designed to do just that.
From the moment I stepped onto the 10.3-acre campus, I could see the thought and care that went into every detail. The horseshoe layout, featuring 23 classrooms, a modern kindergarten building, and vibrant playfields, creates a welcoming environment for students. I focused on showcasing not just the architecture but the essence of the space—the bright, inviting classrooms and the multipurpose room designed for creativity and learning.
Using drone footage added an incredible perspective, allowing viewers to appreciate the scale of the campus and its outdoor spaces. It was rewarding to capture images that reflect both the functionality and the beauty of the school, knowing it would play a significant role in shaping young minds.
This project wasn’t just about the visuals; it was about telling a story—one that connects with families and the community. I’m proud to share this work, knowing it highlights a place where children will thrive. You can see the final results and more of my work at www.brightphoto.works.

Brief & Idea
For the architectural photography project at Sally Buselt Elementary School, my focus was on showcasing the multi-use spaces, including the beautifully designed outdoor areas with artificial turf and the state-of-the-art multipurpose room. To capture the most dramatic lighting, we scheduled the shoot at sunrise, allowing the soft, warm light from the east to enhance the outdoor features.
I employed a combination of artificial light using strobe units (AD600 & AD100) and flagging techniques to manage light leaks from the numerous windows, ensuring a balanced exposure throughout. Most of the imagery was captured using a Canon adapted tilt-shift lens at 45mm, allowing for unique perspectives, with some wider shots at 24mm to provide context and depth.
This project not only highlights the innovative design of the school but also emphasizes the importance of versatile spaces that foster learning and community engagement.
